lately // 9.15.14

Oh lordy. For those of you that are in college or have teaching jobs, are you in the weeds yet? Let’s just say my to-do list is ten miles long and growing. Last week I took up two seats on the bus because I had three tote bags and a purse. Crazy. Balance balance balance is my mantra.

Here’s what I’ve been up to lately:

Aspiring to // make the most glorious macarons this town has ever seen.

Preparing for // a 16 hour/week practicum in which I get to teach lessons and do research on the teaching & learning process. PS. Speaking of teaching, I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this teacher’s laid-back-yet-chic style.

Listening to // acoustic Bon Jovi because it’s in the 5-CD changer at work. It’s a hoot.

Thinking that // I may very well dress up as Daisy Buchannan for Halloween, after reading October’s pick for the ABM book club!

Hoping that // the Fall weather lingers a while. I’ve heard rumors of a blizzard of a winter. I’ll have to take a peek at the Farmer’s Almanac to confirm.

Reading // a stack of old magazines that I bought but never browsed. And also getting very excited for this to get up and running…

Wanting to // blog more often but trying SO hard to just stick with a consistent, sustainable schedule! I keep referencing this podcast by Elise Blaha Cripe on editorial calendars.

Dreading // the Missouri winter. I really like this jacket but there’s no way that’ll work in a snowstorm.

Browsing // new-to-me blogs and revisiting old blogs. Have any suggestions for me?

Pinteresting // anything to do with fall fashion and pumpkin recipes. Check out my Wardrobe and Recipe boards!

Thinking about // trying Crossfit. Should I? Shouldn’t I? If I do I might reward myself with these pieces from Albion: a plush pullover & some long leggings. But first I’ll have to pull some doubles at work so I don’t break the bank!

What have you been up to lately? –Catherine

Where did February go? It absolutely flew by over here. It has been busy.

The semester is going so smoothly I’m almost afraid to talk about it. Some of my goals for this year were to stop procrastinating and pay attention to how many classes I miss this semester. I procrastinate like any other young person, and I missed more classes last semester then I did during four years of undergrad. Yikes. I made sure to get a good schedule this spring and face the blues I had about being 24 and still not doing whatever it is I think I’m supposed to be doing. Making a point to stop scrutinizing the future and instead focusing on the present is so darn good.

Europe planning is in full swing! Wes and I will embark on our very long awaited honeymoon in May. Our Eurail passes came in the mail today, and we’re almost ready to start figuring out the fun, exciting details of our trip. Harrod’s! The Louvre! Gondola rides! I am so stinkin’ excited. I’ve been trying to think about how and what to blog while I’m abroad. Obviously, lots and lots of photos. I also want to decide on a thematic souvenir to bring back from each country. Magnets? Postcards? Do share your ideas!

As far as the day-to-day goes, it’s been a lotta homework, a lotta work outs, and a little bit of fun. I reupholstered a chair, prettied up some ClearView binders with scrapbooking paper, and rearranged the living room. Yep. That’s what I like to do on my downtime!

In the meantime, Kitty Meow has been on the orneriest of ornery streaks. Scaring the bejesus out of us by jumping out of nooks and crannies, exploring things she’s not supposed to explore, and my favorite, laying in the middle of the floor while we’re working out to watch my pal Richard Simmons bump ‘n grind. Still love her!

I am reading: According to Jane by Marilyn Brant. This is the first book in my 2013 Book Challenge, and although I almost chucked it aside the other day, I really  want to know how it ends, so I’ve decided to finish it.

I have learned: exactly how to make a single crochet.

I am crafting: a precious little baby blanket. It’s coming along quickly now that I know how to do a single crochet!

I am loving: my new bangs that my sister trimmed and reshaped for me.

I am developing: a project to help keep my feet warm for the rest of the winter! More on that soon, I promise.

I am stressing: about my future and whether or not college is the best course for me- there are so many things that I need to consider.

I am watching: The Lord of the Rings trilogy, extended edition. It’s been epic!
